Clarks Beach and Waiau Pa Community Events and Business Association Meeting

Clarks Beach & Waiau Pa Community & Business Association Meeting

Next Meeting - Thursday 14th August 2025 - 6.30pm

Your Community and Business Association (CBA) meets every 2nd Thursday of the month from February to October. Make it your regular night to meet your neighbours. Interesting and varied programme. Open to all.

Our next public meeting, Thursday August 14th at the Golf Club

Time: 6.30 for a 7pm start. The bar will be open before the meeting. Come and meet your neighbours.

Main Speaker: Garth Dawson, Chair of Takutai Charitable Trust

We can learn a lot from our neighbours. Beachlands and Maraetai run a comprehensive raft of very successful community programmes.

These include inter-generational projects, with older people and school students sharing skills—both ways. Take a look at  https://takutaicharitabletrust.co.nz/takutai-charitable-trust-beachlands/programs/  for their impressive range of other regular eventsWhat could our community do here? Is there enough interest for us to set up an intergeneration skills transfer programme? (At Beachlands/Maraetai they have a paid coordinator to run it.)

In the short Member Spot we’ll hear from Paul Arthur, our own Eco-Warrior. He’ll give a quick overview of some of his team’s recent activities in dealing with pest eradication, protecting dotterels, and more. We are very lucky to have such a passionate advocate in our community. In June, Auckland Council acknowledged Paul with a Celebrating Harbour Champions Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the environment of the Manukau Harbour catchment.

Come early, catch up with your neighbours and meet new residents. The bar will be open until the meeting begins.

CBA September Meeting

Sunflowers Anyone??

There’s a lot of enthusiasm for running a sunflower competition, but we lack someone to head up the project.

We’ve been offered free seed, can get the word out to the community through our various comms methods, and have some enthusiasts willing to help. We just need one organised person with a small amount of time to get the ball rolling and coordinate activities. If you can help or would like to know more, call Robyn 0275 846 348 or Rachel 021 710 189.

Calf Club Day, Saturday 11th October 2025, Waiau Pa Primary School

A country school’s Calf Club Day is always a great outing. This year our hard-working PTA is holding it on a Saturday so working people can more easily attend.

It’s their major fundraiser for the year. Head along to the school and share the love.
